In 2021, the Iranian power tool market increased by 1.4% to $X, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a modest increase. In value terms, Germany ($X), Georgia ($X) and Sri Lanka ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for power tool exported from Iran worldwide, with a combined 27% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Oman, Turkey, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 73%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Oman, with a CAGR of +103.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average power tool export price amounted to less than $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 36%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+67.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of power tools, when their volume decreased by -1.4% to X units. In general, imports, however, saw a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 335% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, power tool imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 89%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X units) was the main supplier of power tool to Iran, accounting for a 138% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), with a 0.5% share of total imports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 79%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while the price for China amounted to $X per unit.
