Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sauce and seasoning exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 331% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Lebanon (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of sauce and seasoning exports from Iran, with a combined 29% share of total exports. Canada, the Netherlands, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Germany, Sweden, Ethiopia, Oman and Armenia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ethiopia (with a CAGR of +7,693.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for sauce and seasoning exported from Iran were Lebanon ($X), Kuwait ($X) and Canada ($X), with a combined 28% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Ethiopia, Armenia, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Oman and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 34%.

The average sauce and seasoning export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 24% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Iran
In 2021, overseas purchases of sauces and seasonings increased by 2.3% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 259%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sauce and seasoning imports stood at $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 285%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of sauce and seasoning imports to Iran, together comprising 69% of total imports. Canada, Turkey, Thailand, Kuwait and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +39.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest sauce and seasoning suppliers to Iran, together accounting for 61% of total imports. These countries were followed by Canada, Turkey, Thailand, Kuwait and Oman, which together accounted for a further 20%.

The average sauce and seasoning import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
