Razor Market Size in Iran

The Iranian razor market declined significantly to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -25.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption continues to indicate a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of razors increased by 209% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 478%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, razor exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 320% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) was the main destination for razor exports from Iran, with a 74% share of total exports. Moreover, razor exports to Kyrgyzstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), fourfold. Tajikistan (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kyrgyzstan totaled +34.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-8.4% per year) and Tajikistan (+9.1% per year).

In value terms, Tajikistan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest markets for razor exported from Iran worldwide, together comprising 99% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +134.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average razor export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -74.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 370%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell notably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Iran

In 2021, the amount of razors imported into Iran contracted notably to X tons, waning by -35.9% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 183%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, razor imports declined to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 183% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. The United Arab Emirates (X tons), China (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of razor imports to Iran, with a combined 89% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Oman, which accounted for a further 11%.
