Soups Market Size in Iran

In 2021, the Iranian soups market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, soups exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 283%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of soups exports from Iran, together accounting for 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Turkey, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Kuwait, which together accounted for a further 14%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 47%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of soups and broths were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 160%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, soups imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 157%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the main supplier of soups to Iran, with a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a 1.1% share of total imports.
