Wallpaper Market Size in Iran
The Iranian wallpaper market declined modestly to $X in 2021, waning by -4.5% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a deep downturn. Wallpaper consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Iran
In 2021, the amount of wallpaper and wall coverings exported from Iran soared to X tons, picking up by 40% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 172% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wallpaper exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 103% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
South Korea (X tons), Oman (X kg) and Azerbaijan (X kg) were the main destinations of wallpaper exports from Iran, with a combined 90% share of total exports. Austria, Canada and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5.9%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Canada (with a CAGR of +287.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Korea ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for wallpaper and wall coverings exports from Iran, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Oman ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to South Korea amounted to +131.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+293.6% per year) and Austria (+296.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average wallpaper export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -14.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 79%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Iran
Wallpaper imports into Iran shrank to X tons in 2021, which is down by -5.8% against 2020. In general, imports, however, posted slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 80%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wallpaper imports reduced modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) was the main wallpaper supplier to Iran, with a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey (X tons), with a 1.1% share of total imports. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a 0.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +6.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (-19.9% per year) and Germany (-27.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wallpaper and wall coverings to Iran, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 1.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 0.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (-28.2% per year) and Germany (-30.0% per year).

In 2021, the average wallpaper import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 1.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage.
