Toy Market Size in Iraq

After two years of decline, the Iraqi toy market increased by 13% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption enjoyed a remarkable increase. Toy consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, toy exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 782%. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 654%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, toy imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 1,219% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, China (X tons) was the main toy supplier to Iraq, with a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, toy imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +20.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+6.9% per year) and Turkey (-1.7% per year).
