Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 97% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives imports declined notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then fell significantly in the following year.

China (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives imports to Iraq, with a combined 82% share of total imports. The United States, France and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.7%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +154.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
