Exports by Country
The United States (X litres) was the main destination for soft drink exports from Iraq, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, soft drink exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Turkey (X litres), threefold. Canada (X litres) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled +132.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+14.1% per year) and Canada (+34.6% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for soft drink exports from Iraq, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 4.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +164.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+15.6% per year) and Canada (+29.0% per year).

The average soft drink export price stood at $X per litre in 2021, picking up by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine years. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Iraq
In 2021, the amount of soft drinks imported into Iraq shrank rapidly to X litres, waning by -21.8% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, soft drink imports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -26.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X litres), the United Arab Emirates (X litres) and Lebanon (X litres) were the main suppliers of soft drink imports to Iraq, with a combined 65% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, Poland, Austria, Italy and Jordan, which together accounted for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Italy (with a CAGR of +53.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Austria ($X) constituted the largest soft drink suppliers to Iraq, with a combined 59% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Italy and Jordan, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Among the main suppliers, Italy, with a CAGR of +51.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average soft drink import price amounted to $X per litre, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per litre), while the price for Poland ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+25.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
