The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for computing machinery exports from Ireland, with a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, computing machinery exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the UK (X tons), with a 19% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Netherlands stood at +5.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+4.3% per year) and the UK (+0.1% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for computing machinery exported from Ireland were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the UK ($X), together comprising 56% of total exports. Italy, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the United States, Hong Kong SAR, Denmark, China and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 338% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, computing machinery imports dropped modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +15.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+2.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+10.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof to Ireland, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 9.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +7.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+7.1% per year) and the UK (-1.6% per year).
