For the fifth year in a row, the Irish frozen chicken cut market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 81% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption enjoyed resilient growth. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen chicken cut exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen chicken cut exports from Ireland, with a combined 52% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Ireland recorded decline in purchases abroad of frozen cuts of chicken, which decreased by 0% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen chicken cut imports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of frozen chicken cut to Ireland, accounting for a 52% share of total imports.
