Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded resilient growth. Video game console consumption peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, video game console exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 240%. The UK (X units) was the main destination for video game console exports from Ireland, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, video game console exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Czech Republic (X units), with a 4.1% share.

In general, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 121% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
