The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 95% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, wood charcoal imports contracted slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 84%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

The UK (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood charcoal imports to Ireland, together comprising 65% of total imports. Spain, Poland, South Africa and Paraguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Paraguay (with a CAGR of +209.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
