In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre fabrics were imported into Ireland; with a decrease of -13.3% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +12.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In 2022, the UK (X tons) constituted the largest glass fibre fabrics supplier to Ireland, accounting for a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibre fabrics imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), twofold. Belarus (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
