Imports into Israel
In 2021, after seven years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of ketones and quinones, when their volume decreased by -16.5% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 188%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, ketone and quinone imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of ketone and quinone to Israel, accounting for a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, ketone and quinone imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), ninefold. South Africa (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States amounted to +41.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+12.9% per year) and South Africa (+12.7% per year).

From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
