Leather Market Size in Israel
The Israeli leather market shrank modestly to $X in 2021, dropping by -2.1% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. Exports from Israel
In 2021, the amount of leather exported from Israel rose rapidly to X tons, picking up by 6.1% compared with 2020 figures. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 40%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, leather exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 39%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Palestine (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main destinations of leather exports from Israel, with a combined 9.7% share of total exports. These countries were followed by India, Australia, China and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 1.2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Australia (with a CAGR of +56.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Palestine ($X) and Australia ($X) constituted the largest markets for leather exported from Israel worldwide, with a combined 20% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Turkey, Belarus, India and China, which together accounted for a further 0.7%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +54.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average leather export price amounted to $X per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 43%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+23.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Israel
After seven years of decline, purchases abroad of leather increased by 18% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a deep contraction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of leather imports to Israel, together accounting for 81% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Colombia, Poland, Germany and Argentina, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in China (with a CAGR of +10.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Turkey ($X) and India ($X) appeared to be the largest leather suppliers to Israel, together comprising 79% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Germany, Poland, Colombia, Palestine and Argentina, which together accounted for a further 15%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +9.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average leather import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 1.8% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+35.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
