The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, malt imports contracted slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of malt imports to Israel, together accounting for 39% of total imports. These countries were followed by Greece, Sweden, Ukraine and the UK, which together accounted for a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +30.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest malt suppliers to Israel were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 42% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Greece, Sweden, Ukraine and the UK, which together accounted for a further 21%.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Ukraine ($X per ton), while the price for Greece ($X per ton) and Sweden ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
