In value terms, primary cell and battery exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United States (X units) was the main destination for primary cell and battery exports from Israel, with a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, primary cell and battery exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X units), threefold. Canada (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled +14.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+15.4% per year) and Canada (+39.5% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for primary cell and battery exported from Israel were Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), together accounting for 69% of total exports. Canada, India, the Netherlands, the UK and Congo lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.7%.
Among the main countries of destination, Congo, with a CAGR of +34.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average primary cell and battery export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -18.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 176% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+50.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Israel
For the fourth year in a row, Israel recorded growth in overseas purchases of primary cells and batteries, which increased by 60% to X units in 2022. In general, imports posted a resilient increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, primary cell and battery imports amounted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 19%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Belgium (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main suppliers of primary cell and battery imports to Israel, together accounting for 69% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +120.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of primary cells and batteries to Israel, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 9.5% share.
