The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +110.3% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, soap imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 37%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the main supplier of soap to Israel, accounting for a 129% share of total imports. Moreover, soap imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey totaled +25.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.9% per year) and the UK (+40.6% per year).
