Palestine (X tons) was the main destination for wood charcoal exports from Israel, accounting for a 94% share of total exports. Moreover, wood charcoal exports to Palestine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Palestine totaled +3.1%.
In value terms, Palestine ($X) remains the key foreign market for wood charcoal exports from Israel, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 4.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Palestine totaled +11.2%.

The average wood charcoal export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a resilient increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Palestine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States amounted to $X per ton.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of wood charcoal decreased by -8.2% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 34%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood charcoal imports shrank slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 33%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Paraguay (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood charcoal imports to Israel, with a combined 51% share of total imports. Nigeria, Palestine, Indonesia, Namibia, China, South Africa, Venezuela, Vietnam and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (with a CAGR of +66.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Paraguay ($X), Egypt ($X) and Colombia ($X) constituted the largest wood charcoal suppliers to Israel, together accounting for 51% of total imports. These countries were followed by Nigeria, Palestine, Indonesia, Namibia, China, South Africa, Venezuela, Vietnam and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 38%.
Among the main suppliers, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +69.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average wood charcoal import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 5.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, wood charcoal import price increased by +48.9% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($X per ton) and Nigeria ($X per ton), while the price for Palestine ($X per ton) and Namibia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
