In 2021, the Italian aniline market increased by 33% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a mild setback. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aniline imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable descent. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of aniline to Italy, accounting for a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, aniline imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), twofold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.1% share.
