Germany (X units) was the main destination for coloured pencil lead exports from Italy, with a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, coloured pencil lead exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X units), fivefold. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 82%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, coloured pencil lead imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Hungary (X units), China (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of coloured pencil lead imports to Italy, with a combined 60% share of total imports.
