Imports into Italy
In 2022, purchases abroad of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles increased by 30% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ceramic statuette imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest ceramic statuette supplier to Italy, with a 43% share of total imports. Moreover, ceramic statuette imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Vietnam (X tons), with a 17% share.
