Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for cherry exports from Italy, accounting for a 42% share of total exports. Moreover, cherry exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Switzerland (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Austria (X tons), with a 12% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cherry imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Spain (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Croatia (X tons) were the main suppliers of cherry imports to Italy, with a combined 91% share of total imports.
