As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, starch glue exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Switzerland (X tons), Spain (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of starch glue exports from Italy, together comprising 35% of total exports. These countries were followed by Uzbekistan, Portugal, Turkey, Poland, China, the UK, Hong Kong SAR, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 46%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +120.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 29% against the previous year.
