Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) were the main destinations of exports of granite, sandstone and other building stone from Italy, with a combined 48% share of total exports. In 2021, the average export price for granite, sandstone and other building stone amounted to $X per ton, growing by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 17%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
