The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic headgear exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +82.2% against 2020 indices. Algeria (X units), Germany (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of plastic headgear exports from Italy, together comprising 44% of total exports. The UK, Spain, Croatia, Poland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, Luxembourg, Slovenia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Luxembourg (with a CAGR of +46.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, plastic headgear imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
