From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lifting equipment exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 64% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

France (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Kuwait (X units) were the main destinations of lifting equipment exports from Italy, together comprising 36% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, the UK, Brazil, Turkey, Austria, Canada, Norway, Australia, Peru and China, which together accounted for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +43.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Kuwait ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for lifting equipment exported from Italy worldwide, together comprising 36% of total exports. Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, Turkey, Austria, Canada, Norway, Australia, Peru and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

In 2021, the average lifting equipment export price amounted to $X per unit, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. Imports into Italy

In 2021, the amount of lifting equipment imported into Italy declined remarkably to X units, waning by -36.3% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 1,758%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lifting equipment imports fell markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 178% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
