In 2022, the Italian melon seed market decreased by -52.9% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In 2022, melon seed imports into Italy shrank dramatically to X tons, falling by -17.2% against the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 213%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, melon seed imports fell rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 176%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
