From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +1,002.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malta ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malta (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the third consecutive year, Italy recorded growth in overseas purchases of oils and other products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar, which increased by 3.8% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 52%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, oils from coal tar imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a moderate increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of oils from coal tar imports to Italy, with a combined 65% share of total imports.
