Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, prepared or preserved crab meat imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Belgium (X tons), Spain (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of prepared or preserved crab meat imports to Italy, with a combined 57% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Thailand and Chile, which together accounted for a further 33%.
