Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) were the main destinations of wood tool exports from Italy, with a combined 49% share of total exports. The United States, Austria, Israel, Belgium, Libya, Greece, the Netherlands, Morocco and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +58.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest markets for wood tool exported from Italy worldwide, with a combined 72% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Austria, Algeria, Belgium, Israel, the Netherlands, Libya, Greece, Morocco and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 16%.
Austria, with a CAGR of +57.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wood tool export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight decline. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Libya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of tools of wood imported into Italy fell significantly to X tons, waning by -15.2% on 2020. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood tool imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Romania (X tons), China (X tons) and Albania (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood tool imports to Italy, together comprising 73% of total imports. These countries were followed by Ukraine, Germany, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Brazil, Poland and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +61.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wood tool suppliers to Italy were China ($X), Romania ($X) and Albania ($X), together accounting for 47% of total imports. Germany, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, Poland, Austria, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Brazil and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +35.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wood tool import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 27% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+21.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
