The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 40%. In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
France (X litres), the UK (X litres) and the Netherlands (X litres) were the main suppliers of imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Italy, with a combined 50% share of total imports. Germany, Mexico, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Cyprus and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.

In 2022, the average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $X per litre, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per litre), while the price for Poland ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
