From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +142.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Libya ($X), Greece ($X) and Austria ($X) were the largest markets for whole fresh milk exported from Italy worldwide, together comprising 49% of total exports. Germany, Albania, Malta, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, China and Slovenia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

Whole fresh milk imports into Italy dropped to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -7.7% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 6%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Slovenia (X tons), Austria (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of whole fresh milk imports to Italy, together accounting for 66% of total imports. Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Spain and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
