The United States (X units), China (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main destinations of accordion exports from Japan, together comprising 55% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Taiwan (Chinese), France, the UK, Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia and Canada, which together accounted for a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +71.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), China ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for accordion exported from Japan worldwide, with a combined 59% share of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Singapore, France, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan (Chinese), Australia, the UK, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Cambodia, which together accounted for a further 34%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +52.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average accordion export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 11% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Japan
In 2021, approx. X units of accordions and mouth organs were imported into Japan; with an increase of 21% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight downturn. Imports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, accordion imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild descent. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Indonesia (X units), China (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of accordion imports to Japan, together comprising 97% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +1.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X), France ($X) and China ($X) were the largest accordion suppliers to Japan, with a combined 82% share of total imports.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +3.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year.
