Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main destinations of beer exports from Japan, with a combined 68% share of total exports. These countries were followed by China, Singapore, the United States, Hong Kong SAR, New Zealand and Russia, which together accounted for a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +62.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of beer into Japan soared to X tons, rising by 16% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
