The Philippines (X tons) was the main destination for beeswax exports from Japan, with a 35% share of total exports. Moreover, beeswax exports to the Philippines exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Korea (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Philippines totaled +73.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (-6.6% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-7.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for beeswax exported from Japan were Ireland ($X), the Philippines ($X) and South Korea ($X), together accounting for 63% of total exports.
Ireland, with a CAGR of +89.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average beeswax export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 14%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, overseas purchases of beeswax increased by 46% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Myanmar (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of beeswax imports to Japan, with a combined 50% share of total imports.

In value terms, the largest beeswax suppliers to Japan were Tanzania ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 44% of total imports. Ethiopia, Argentina, Taiwan (Chinese), China, Australia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +70.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average beeswax import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -16.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 13%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
