Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) was the main destination for cheese and curd exports from Japan, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, cheese and curd exports to Taiwan (Chinese) exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Vietnam (X tons), with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Taiwan (Chinese) totaled +15.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+7.4% per year) and Vietnam (+115.0% per year).

In 2022, supplies from abroad of cheese and curd decreased by -4.7% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after five years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 7.5% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cheese and curd imports rose notably to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 19%.
