After three years of decline, the Japanese concrete pump market increased by 101% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption posted a strong increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the amount of concrete pumps exported from Japan dropped remarkably to X units, which is down by -64.4% against 2020. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 103% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, concrete pump exports declined significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

China (X units), Vietnam (X units) and Madagascar (X units) were the main destinations of concrete pump exports from Japan, together comprising 65% of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, concrete pump export price decreased by -14.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 43% against the previous year. After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of concrete pumps decreased by -16.5% to X units in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 119% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete pump imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 124%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey (X units), India (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main suppliers of concrete pump imports to Japan, together comprising 81% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +45.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), India ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the largest concrete pump suppliers to Japan, together accounting for 82% of total imports. South Korea, Singapore and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 31%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the price for Austria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
