Disperse Dye Market Size in Japan

After two years of decline, the Japanese disperse dye market increased by 8.4% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, saw a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. Disperse dye consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of disperse dye exports from Japan, together comprising 54% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +135.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the United States ($X), China ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for disperse dye exported from Japan worldwide, together comprising 56% of total exports. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon, when their volume increased by 31% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -35.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled -3.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (-7.0% per year) and India (+1.6% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon to Japan, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 4.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +3.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (-4.3% per year) and India (+3.3% per year).

The average disperse dye import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -7.2% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, disperse dye import price decreased by -10.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 34% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
