In 2021, the Japanese electrical fuse market decreased by -3.3% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a perceptible setback. China (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of electrical fuse exports from Japan, together accounting for 48% of total exports. These countries were followed by Vietnam, the Netherlands, Thailand, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 41%.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electrical fuse imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
