Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, seafood meals and pellets imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Peru (X tons) constituted the largest seafood meals and pellets supplier to Japan, with a 30% share of total imports. Moreover, seafood meals and pellets imports from Peru exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X tons), with a 9.2% share.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
