The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 175%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Overall, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, frozen pork cut imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Mexico (X tons) constituted the largest frozen pork cut supplier to Japan, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen pork cut imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Canada (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Chile (X tons), with a 12% share.
