The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India (X tons), China (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives exports from Japan, together accounting for 81% of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Switzerland and Germany, which together accounted for a further 13%.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild slump. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
