Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 116% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, paper making machinery imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 153%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of paper making machinery imports to Japan, together accounting for 86% of total imports.
