The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.8% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 16%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

The United States (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main destinations of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports from Japan, with a combined 44% share of total exports. Hong Kong SAR, Australia, China, Thailand, Singapore, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, the Philippines and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +21.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exported from Japan were the United States ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a combined 46% share of total exports. In 2022, the average export price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings amounted to $X per ton, falling by -12.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 9.2%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After four years of growth, overseas purchases of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings decreased by -0.5% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 5.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports totaled $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Thailand (X tons), China (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports to Japan, with a combined 56% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +10.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), China ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the largest mixed condiment, sause and seasoning suppliers to Japan, with a combined 51% share of total imports. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
