In 2022, supplies from abroad of moulds for mineral materials decreased by -4.7% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 127% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mould for mineral materials imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 106%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of mould for mineral materials to Japan, accounting for a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, mould for mineral materials imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Austria (X units), with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +4.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (-10.9% per year) and South Korea (-10.3% per year).
