From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +44.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-3.4% per year) and Brazil (+20.2% per year).

The average nucleic acid export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -12.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+17.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Japan
In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of nucleic acids and their salts, when their volume increased by 24% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, saw a mild decline. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, nucleic acid imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of nucleic acid to Japan, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, nucleic acid imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X tons), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-6.3% per year) and India (+17.1% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Belgium ($X) and India ($X) were the largest nucleic acid suppliers to Japan, with a combined 60% share of total imports.
India, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average nucleic acid import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -44.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 36%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then plummeted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
