In 2021, organo-inorganic compounds exports from Japan soared to X tons, rising by 26% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 53%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +85.8% against 2015 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main destinations of organo-inorganic compounds exports from Japan, with a combined 56% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, Thailand, Taiwan (Chinese) and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mexico (with a CAGR of +90.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for organo-inorganic compounds exported from Japan were South Korea ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 56% of total exports. The United States, Singapore, the Netherlands, Thailand, Germany and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +76.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average organo-inorganic compounds export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Japan
In 2021, supplies from abroad of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 13%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 16%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest organo-inorganic compounds supplier to Japan, with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, organo-inorganic compounds imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), sixfold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +7.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+17.2% per year) and the United States (+2.1% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) to Japan, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +9.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-0.5% per year) and South Korea (+0.9% per year).

In 2021, the average organo-inorganic compounds import price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -1.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 26%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
