Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, crude oil imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Saudi Arabia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) were the main suppliers of crude oil imports to Japan, together comprising 84% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +1,033.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Kuwait ($X) appeared to be the largest crude oil suppliers to Japan, with a combined 86% share of total imports.
