The Japanese plastic reservoir market fell modestly to $X in 2022, reducing by -1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a perceptible shrinkage. In value terms, plastic reservoir exports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 164%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic reservoir exports from Japan, together accounting for 67% of total exports. The United States, the United Arab Emirates, Djibouti, Singapore, Vietnam, Oman and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +44.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, Japan recorded decline in supplies from abroad of plastic reservoirs, tanks and vats, which decreased by -28.6% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 147% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic reservoir imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 688%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

China (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic reservoir imports to Japan, together comprising 64% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +55.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Thailand ($X) and Vietnam ($X) constituted the largest plastic reservoir suppliers to Japan, with a combined 46% share of total imports.
